Vijay feels happy with AIADMK's victory in state elections

Tamil Nadu politics and Tamil cinema always go hand-in-hand. And this time around, the change of government in the state seems to have an impact in the film industry as well. If there is one person who is happy about it, it has to be namma Tamil star Vijay! The actor, who went low with a string of flops early last year, came back with a bang with Vettaikaran opposite Anushka. However, it was Vijay’s next film Kaavalan, with actor Asin, that underwent a lot of ‘pressures’ from different sides that left the actor in dismay.

Alleged to have had a tiff with politician Udhayanidhi Stalin over the release date, the film finally saw a big release and is also on its way to be a part of the Shanghai Film Festival. Adding more twist to the story is Makkal Iyakkam, a people’s movement that was launched by Vijay, as they were seen joining hands with AIADMK this March. SA Chandrasekar, noted film director and father of Vijay, was also quoted as saying there needs to be a political change for the well-being of the society and that’s the reason for the shift.

Says a source, “The actor went through a tough phase during the release of Kaavalan. It was these incidents that led him to make his political move towards AIADMK. With the winning of the party in Tamil Nadu, we are quite sure that Vijay will be more relaxed now.” What’s more? With Chandrasekar now being elected as the new chief for the Tamil Film Producer’s Council, the actor can surely breathe easy.
